Weather in Tenerife in February

Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, offers different climatic conditions depending on the region. In February, these differences are particularly noticeable between the northern and southern parts of the island.

South of Tenerife in February

The south of Tenerife is known for its stable and sunny climate. The following weather conditions can be expected here in February:

  • Maximum temperature: on average 21 – 23°C, on some days it can reach 26°C.
  • Minimum temperature: at night the temperature drops to 15 – 16°C.
  • Rainfall: about 20mm per month, which corresponds to about 2 rainy days.
  • Sunshine hours: on average 7 – 8 hours of sunshine per day.

Northern Tenerife in February

The northern part of the island is characterised by a cooler and wetter climate.

  • Maximum temperature: 16 – 18°C on average.
  • Minimum temperature: temperatures drop to 10 – 12°C at night.
  • Rainfall: about 70 mm per month, corresponding to about 7 – 8 rainy days.
  • Sunshine hours: about 5 – 6 hours of sunshine per day.

General recommendations for tourists

  • Beach holidays: for those who prefer beach holidays, the southern resorts such as Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje offer more sunny and warm days.
  • Active holidays: the northern part of the island is ideal for hiking and exploring nature. Warm clothing will be necessary for evening walks and hiking in the mountains.
  • Mountain treks: for those planning to climb Teide or walk in the national park, it is important to consider the possibility of snow and cooler temperatures at altitude.

February in Tenerife is also known for its vibrant festivals, such as the Santa Cruz Carnival, which attracts many tourists for its colourful and fun event.
